Spiritual Discipline: Why is it so important to read scripture?

Spiritual Discipline
1) Bible intake :
No spiritual discipline is more important than the intake of God's Word .Nothing can substitute for it. There is simply no healthy Christian life apart from a diet of the milk and the meat of Scripture.
-Hearing Gods Word:

-Reading Gods Word:

There is no factor more influential in shaping a persons moral and social behavior than regular Bible reading. If you want to be changed, if you want to become more like Jesus Christ, discipline yourself to read the Bible.

How often do we need to read our Bible?
Well, how often do we face problems and temptation? EVERYDAY! Then how often do we need instruction and encouragement? EVERYDAY!

" A man can no more take in a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough for the next 6 months,or take sufficient air into his lungs at one time to sustain life for a week. We must draw upon Gods boundless store of grace from day to day as we need it."

Discipline yourself to find the time to read your Bible.
Try to read at the beginning of your day.

-God tells us how to study His Word in Ezra 7:10
1.Devout yourselves
2.to the study
3.and observation of the Law of the Lord
4 .to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel .

The difference in studying the bible and reading it is simply a pencil and paper.

If your growth in Godliness were measured by the quality of your Bible intake, what would be the result? Your growth of Godliness is greatly affected by the equity of your Bible intake.

 Memorizing Scripture Strengthens Your Faith!
Proverbs 22:17-19
"Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge, for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. That your trust may be in the Lord , I have made them known to you today, even to you."
Scripture is like re-enforcing steel to a sagging faith.

Until verses are available to the heart, they are not available to the mouth...
.
Ephesians 4:29

"The Sword of the Spirit is His Word ".
The Word is the Sword of the Spirit, but the Holy Spirit cannot give u that weapon if u don't know it. Scripture is like a supply of swords ready for battle!!
Are you ready for battle??

Not all men are pigs!

I hear and see so many cheating stories lately that you would think that is the norm-well it's not! People just don't brag on the good ones enough! So here's my good one:
1.Ryan has been more than faithful to me, he wouldn't even hang out with girls while he was overseas- he would come back to his room after work and talk to me everyday!(even military wives bragged of how faithful he was).
2. He doesn't talk about how hot my mom is or how hot other women are, he makes me feel like I'm the most beautiful woman in the world!!
3. He doesn't watch nudity scenes and turns his head when a half naked woman is on the screen. All out of respect for those ladies and for me!
4. He is man after God's own heart. He is the spiritual leader& I can trust his decisions for our future family because I know He always seeks Gods will first!
5. He's a MAN! He protects this country without complaining. He protects me. He provides and works hard.
-Sorry if this made you wanna puke;) But I am proud to be marrying such a Godly man and I think people need to know that there are still people who have morals!

Ryan Came Home! Soldier's Homecoming!

Feb 19,2014 He’s in the states!

11 months down and only 1 week to go!!!!!!!

My head is filled with sooooo many emotions!!!

Happy, excited, impatient, anxious, hopeful, reminiscent…. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, I can’t focus on anything except what it’s going to be like to have him home… FINALLY!!!!!!

What will I say, What will I do, will I kiss good, will he think I look just as beautiful as when he left, what will he be like, am I going to cry?! What will it be like????!!!!

I went from being 20 to a 5 year old within the hour of hearing he was back in the states…. For 11 months I have been waiting, counting down, & planning in my head how my reunion with him would be        and it’s FINALLY ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!  It’s been tough and long, but honestly I am so thankful that God chose me to go through this journey with Ryan and allowed us to stay together. He has blessed us with such a beautiful relationship and I can honestly say that Christ has been the absolute center of it. By the grace of God we are together now and closer than we ever could’ve been by flesh alone. It was definitely a blessing in disguise.  God has blessed me with such a loyal, wonderful godly man and he is definitely more than worth the wait!!!!!

February 21,2014    12ish pm Homecoming!

My hands were shaking and my chest was broke out in red splotches(like it always does when I have anxiety or am nervous), I was holding my welcome home sign, that I spend late hours at night making, that quoted our song : Waiting For Superman, “Talking to angels, counting the stars-waiting 4 my superman.”  If you know Ryan, that song was perfect for us because he is OBSESSED with superman.:)

Me nor Ryan’s mom got to sit at the gate he was getting off at like everyone else because, the flight attendees said there were too many families up there and we would all have to wait in the baggage claim unless only 2 of us wanted to go by ourselves. It didn’t seem fair to the rest of the family and friends ,who came to see him as well, to  be left behind . We decided to stay and endure the longer anticipation so we could all embrace the moment together.

We lined up. Family in front& friends in the back. I chose to be the very last person in line because I wanted to embrace everything, and secretly wanted the longer hug and kiss.;)

As I stood there waiting ever so patiently and praying, I had a gentleman holding a camera tap me on the arm, “excuse me ma’am, I was listening to you and a lady talk about how y’all were needing pictures of your soldier’s coming home?  I was supposed to do another couple’s pictures, but she got to go up and wait at the gate and I wasn’t allowed up there, so I’m down here with no one to photograph. Would you like me to take them?- They’re free!”   I almost cried out of so much joy built up inside than I knew what to do with. Here was going to be one of the best days of my life, a blessing from God, and ANOTHER blessing with this photographer! Coincidence? No, I know it absolutely was an intentional gift from God! As we took some snap shots before seeing Ryan, I heard cheers from upstairs-My heart is pounding at this point! I see soldiers coming down the escalator with crying family and girlfriends clinging to their arms. Ok, now it’s my turn-Where is MY Ryan?!?!?!  Soldier after soldier after soldier….THEN ….I SEE HIM!!!! Goodness, that escalator was SO slow! First the embrace in hugging his mom, then his brother, his dad, and- wait…. he’s coming towards me? But I’m not next in line! Ryan skips everyone else and comes to ME!!!  As he comes closer I see those big brown eyes with tears rolling down his face. His faded haircut, his pink cheeks(they flush when he gets mad, or upset…this was a rare moment of when they were flushed because he was emotionally happy)  , those pearly whites in the smile that reached his eyes. Hugging me so tight with his arms around my waist, the tears started to flow! He smelled like a brand spakin’ new army uniform! We looked into each other’s eyes and had our first kiss in 11 months. “we did it”, I whispered in his ear,” we made itJ After that was a blur, I was on cloud 9. On the way home, all I remember is thanking God for EVERYTHING and clinging to Ryan’s arm ever so tightly as I laid on his shoulder on the way home.

11 months of heartache, crying, keeping busy, always waiting on the call, obsessing over care packages, skype dates, praying, and anticipation. It was worth it…why? Because God promised me that everything would be ok. Ryan and I dated for 3 months before he deployed, I didn’t want to be a military girlfriend, I didn’t want to go through a deployment. But as I prayed day in and day out, God revealed to me that Ryan was the man He had for me at that time. I was fearful for my future but lovingly I obeyed. We not only survived during a deployment, but by the grace of God we grew closer together and to Christ. We did a weekly bible study over the phone. Tried our best to pray together every night( we were fortunate, most deployments don’t allow you to talk but a few times a month-if that. God knew what He was doing and we were & are so blessed), We encouraged each other  to take up our cross everyday.

“ If it wasn’t for God’s mercy and His grace, there’s no way we would be standing in this place, and because He has been faithful every step along the way, here we are…Together.”  And  now ,that’s our new song,  Together by: Steven Curtis Chapman. God is good ALL the time, and ALL the time God is GOOD!

My advice to you, the girl in waiting:

For the ladies going through a deployment right now, waiting on your loved one you either have or will have days where you ask yourself “is this going to be worth all the tears and all of this heartache?” . The answer is “Yes”!  And no matter how much you plan in your head how his homecoming is going to be it’s more than likely not going to be like you planned but it will still be one of the best days you wll ever experience in your life.  One thing I was really nervous about was if I remembered how to kiss…. Rest assured it all comes back as soon as you see him! J

When my soldier was back for only two months and it felt like he never left…. “we went through a 11 month deployment?!”  yep!  And we are more in love than we were when he left!!! Stay strong, and pray on!!!!

Unfading Beauty: More Than Just a Pretty Face

Unfading Beauty: More than Just a Pretty Face

As a young lady living in the present 2014, I have really had a warped sense of self growing up, & have really been confused on what beauty really is. Now at the age of 21 I have decided to break the monotonous streak of obsessing over “ I hope I don’t see anyone I know, because I didn’t wear make-up today”, or always being in a competition with every cute girl who walks by and comparing the amount of cellulite on my legs to hers. Although this society really is warped when it comes what is considered the most beautiful, as Christian women we cannot leave all of the blame on society and everyone else. We are to blame as well.

As I’ve been looking for answers on what God says about what true beauty is and looking at stories like Esther, Ruth, & Mary I also discovered a part of what it really means to be a woman and why  God made us the way we are. We have such an important, yet humbling role that is not measured by the amount of cleaning and cooking we do or don’t do, not the pretty toned or cellulite legs, not the amount of make-up we wear or how great we look without it. So let’s see what God measures….

Keys to being a Godly woman: Beauty, Feminism, Modesty, Confidence.

Unfading Beauty:

As a follower of Christ, our bodies are the temple of God and we are commanded to take care of it.

Maintaining a clean, neatness, good hygiene, modesty and appropriate appearance, eating healthy and exercising, Skin care, gracious manners are our responsibility. Our goal should ultimately be that our adornment is to emphasize the internal.

We should complement the kingdom of God in every aspect of life.(2 Co 3:2-3)

Never be a hindrance to the Kingdom of God.

Looking nice is not a bad thing; in fact, your outward appearance attracts others to you and your life. This ultimately gives you an opportunity for sharing the testimony of Christ who dwells in you.

But keep in mind that a woman’s countenance is a mirror of her heart. Inner peace and Joy reflect upon a woman’s face.  No amount of make-up can mask an unkind heart and hateful words.

A woman’s heart should be rooted in peace and joy. Her outer countenance radiates vitality, enthusiasm, love and a deep sense of well-being- something no amount of make-up, perfume or great hair, nice clothes,& a hot bod could ever create. Having the Holy Spirit empowers a woman with the vitality, & enthusiasm, making her a magnet of people.

True beauty comes from within & is manifested by pure motives & a generous and unselfish spirit towards others. God will manifest that in a woman when she surrenders her life to Him.(1 Ch16:29)

What is natured internally is ultimately manifested externally.(Pr 23:7)

Fruits of a Beautiful Spirit: Patience, a quiet spirit, kindness, faith, joy, hope love, selflessness, content, & genuine.

Femininity:

Femininity is God’s gift to women, a characteristic that separates us from men and allows us to reach people on a more gentle and compassionate level.

Femininity is more than just being a lady, It’s a gift from God that allows us to fulfill our purpose as women. God made us to be caring, loving, gentle  & to encourage.

Surrendering to Him is the key ingredient to femininity.

A Single woman: surrenders herself in a unique way for service to Her Lord & for service of her family and community.

As a Bride: She surrenders her independence, her name, her destiny, her will and ultimately, her body to her husband for the glory of God.

As a Mother: She surrenders her life, for the life of her child.

We are to revive what is already given to us, Femininity.

Such as Mary, Ruth, Esther, they understood their role that God has blessed them with& their unique way to serve the Lord with their gifts.

Modesty:

Before there was sin, Adam and Eve were naked and felt no shame.(Gen 2:25)

After they sinned they were afraid& covered themselves; modesty started.

Modesty= Measure

Modesty is a sensitive withdrawal from anything that is indelicate or impure.

The culture in which we are born& the Christian society in which you live in are factors in using discretion on decency. Ultimately a woman’s sense of modesty is to be regulated by her personal relationship Christ and His purity.

Confidence:

Confidence is how you value yourself. Biblically you are to be humble, but sometimes we can be self-degrading and that is not healthy. We need to pray that we see ourselves as Christ see’s us, no more-no less.

Proper Self-esteem in a Christian woman is a matter of recognizing& confronting herself in her humanity, including her tendency to sin.

(1 Pe 2:25)

But His grace covers our sin, And if you are a follower of Christ , you have the power of the Holy Spirit in you and your confidence should be in that.

Self-Esteem: A Healthy You

Self-Esteem: A Healthy You

Self-Esteem is how each individual values there self. Poor self-esteem (condemning feelings about you) are weights that keep believers under condemnation and cause them to be less than what God intends. Believers are to fight the feelings of inferiority.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us rub with perseverance the race marked out for us.” –Hebrews 12:1

Proper Self-esteem in a follower of Christ is a matter of recognizing and confronting yourself in your humanity, including the tendency of sin, “going astray”.

“For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherded the Overseer of your souls.”- 1 Peter 2:25
It is also a matter of embracing Jesus’ work on the cross-His grace that covers a multitude of sins. The process of comprehending God’s infinite care for the individual-each with unique strengths and weaknesses- puts a perspective of self-esteem.

Psalm 139 expresses the wonder of being uniquely created by God and the  intimate care of His presence at all times, Jesus tenderly described His love for His children.

“Therefore I tell you do not worry about your life, what you will eat, what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? 26. Look at the birds in the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27. Can one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28. And why do you worry about the clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor and spin. 29. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon, in his entire splendor, was dressed like one of these. 30. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown in the fire, will he not much more clothe you-you of little faith? 31. So do not worry saying ‘what shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32. For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33. But seek first the kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. 34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” –Matthew 6:25-34

Ways to a healthy self esteem include:
·         Recognize the need of a Savior[Isa 53:6]
·         Accept being “in the One he loves” [Eph 1:6 Rom 8:1]
·         Move forward in God’s plan for your life[Php 3:13-14]
·         Have a realistic view of yourself[Rom 12:3]
·         Avoid comparison to others [2Co 10:12]

A person with healthy self-esteem is marked by these characteristics:
·         Resting on ownership of God[1Co 3:16]
·         Submitting being the “handiwork” of God[Eph 2:10]
·         Appreciating the differences of others[1Co 12:1-31
·         Willingness to take risks, steps of faith[Est 4:13-16]
·         Forging good relationships with others[Ru 1:16-17]

God does not evaluate human worth as we do. He looks to our heart within, while we tend to look only on the outer frame. The heart of a healthy self-esteem is recognizing that “self” must be seen as created for God’s glory. We must be willing to change weakness into strength when possible- and when it’s not possible, we are to look for opportunities for God to be glorified even in our failures and suffering. God does not make mistakes and He is never finished working in us as He continues to refine and edify, Helping each woman reach her maximum potential. Negatives can be changed into positives, and tragedies into triumphs with the saviors touch. He made you worth dying for.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffers a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” -1 Peter 5:10
