What Does My Husband Need From Me?

#wifeywednesday

To a woman, a man is the most complex of all God’s creatures. He has high expectations for himself; when he fails to attain his dreams, he experiences emotions that are difficult to handle at times. At times he may be afraid of rejection, comparison of another man, the inability to satisfy his wife. He may feel inadequate, insecure, frustrated and helpless as he faces the challenges of life. During these times of vulnerability, a man desperately needs an understanding helper.
Gen 2:18 -The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”.
He needs acceptance, affirmation, and appreciation.

A godly husband is going to show respect for his wife in the way he treats her. This begins with his thought life:
Proverbs 23:7- "for he is the kind of person
who is always thinking about the cost.[a]
“Eat and drink,” he says to you,
but his heart is not with you."
Or for as he thinks within himself, / so he is; or for as he puts on a feast, / so he is

His thought life is evident in his lifestyle:
1Peter 3:7
"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."

And it will be evident in his communication:
Eph 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Because women are natural responders, they generally will respond to efforts or lack of efforts from their husbands. Although we are considered the "responders” this does not give us an excuse to sit back and let our husbands the first move of being kind. God commands us: Eph 5:33
"However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband"
It doesn’t say,”wives, respect your husbands only when they are loving to you first and worthy of respect.”  God extended acceptance to everyone and didn’t wait until they were “worthy” of His love. He simply loved first:
Romans 5:8
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us ."

A wife should treat her husband as if he is already the person that God desires him to be.

What does he need from me?

  •  A husband needs to have respect of his wife and her sincere admiration.
Eph 5:33
"However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband"

A wife needs to express gratitude to her husband’s life, faithfulness, work, provision and care.

  • A husband needs appreciation. To recognize his worth, or to hold in high regard to in respect.(Eph 5:33)
  • A husband also needs affirmation. A wife should speak kind words, "She speaks with wisdom,    and faithful instruction is on her tongue."Pro31:26 , and assure her husband of her love and fidelity," Her husband has full confidence in her
        and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life". Prov 31:11-12
  • A husband needs sexual fulfillment.
"The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control."   1Co 7:3-5
  • A husband needs a home to which he can go for comfort and peace
"Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death." Ge 24:67
  • A husband needs to find his wife attractive and be proud of her.
"Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.” Prov 31:28-29

He needs to share mutual fellowship and fun with her.
A husband should be considered a precious gift from God, to be treated with sensitivity, tenderness, and love. To meet his needs requires time-listening, touching, doing kind things for him and getting creative with your acts of love.
Ecc4:9-12
"Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10 If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up."
